My AC cut off; can I do anything before I call you?

When the coil on your outside condenser gets too hot it kicks a switch that shuts it down.  Pressure builds in the system and it is programmed to cut off for safety measures when there is high head pressure.

To prevent this, make sure there is significant shade over the AC unit outside.  Also make sure that the airflow is free and clear around the unit.  If the system continues to cut out, try using a fine mist of water from a sprinkler over the coil.  This can keep the pressure lower and will lessen the chance of triggering the cut off mechanism.

Give it about twenty minutes of off time before trying the sprinkler trick.
